Unfortunately, we all make mistakes. I made my fair share of mistakes, which strengthened my determination to figure out how to learn from mistakes.
When you believe that God makes right mistakes and commit to learning from mistakes, the discomfort that mistakes cause will be alleviated.
You can overcome feelings of disappointment and disillusionment and even outright missteps with the lessons you learn. You gain wisdom from your past and move towards your wiser and humbler future.
As we waited for the ringmaster to begin the show, or should I say "the greatest show on earth," our children squirmed and laughed in anticipation. My husband returned with our concessions and leaned forward to hand me our tray of snacks and drinks.
We made a critical mistake on that transfer that immediately changed our memories of the day. Our transfer wasn't the best.
My husband dropped the tray before I could properly grab it. Popcorn and soda blew up, landing on our family and a few innocent bystanders.
We were all drenched in coke and sprite which is not the best way to see the greatest show on earth!
This is how mistakes happen. We don't plan our mistakes; We don't like the consequences of our mistakes, but we can't avoid them.
Learning from mistakes is a lifelong process because even if we never make the same mistake twice, there will be other bumps along the way.
Cascading drinks seem insignificant compared to the many mistakes I've made in my life, but this day was huge. Regardless of the size of the mistake, we can learn to deal with our mistakes and move on, trusting that God will redeem our mistakes.
